Danielle Dubé
Masters Level Counsellor
Danielle (she/her) recently has completed the requirements for a Master of Counselling degree from City University. As a full-time active firefighter who has been on the job for over 12 years, a the daughter of a retired firefighter and is married to a firefighter, Danielle has first-hand knowledge of the unique culture and occupational stressors of first responders. Her experiences on the job and the high level of traumatic exposure that comes with it inspired Danielle to support those in the first responder community, both active and retired.
As a former high performance athlete playing ice hockey both professionally and for the Women’s National Team, Danielle brings her lived experience into the counselling room. She takes a strength-based and goal-oriented approach by encouraging clients to use the strengths they have to achieve their desired goals. Danielle does so from a person-centred lens while integrating various approaches such as Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Somatic Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques.
Danielle is a mother of two thoughtful and engaging teenage children. She would trade her athletic ability to be a natural musician and spends much of her free time attempting to learn how to play the guitar. She is also heavily involved with the Canuck Alumni Association and plays multiple charity hockey games each year in support of kids in sports, homelessness, and communities in need.
Danielle’s goal is to work collaboratively with clients, providing empathy and warmth, to achieve their goals and live their most meaningful and positive life.
